Naga People’s Front (NPF) Youth Wing has accused Lok Sabha MP and former chief minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio of adding fuel to fire with his press statement wherein he charged the state government of allowing the situation to become chaotic.
NPF youth wing, through its media cell termed the statement as “unfortunate” because after Rio was elected due to massive support of the NPF, he could blame the NPF-led DAN for the ULB issue turning into a serious situation.
The NPF youth wing accused Rio of being the “master mind behind the current chaos” with a motive to impose President’s Rule ever since he failed in his attempted coup to topple the DAN government last year. In this regard, the NPF Youth Wing condemned the “irresponsible statement” of Rio which it said, has created confusion in the minds of the public. The Youth Wing also said it was unfortunate that tribal body leaders had failed to see reason and fallen prey by acting emotionally to the spell of some government adversaries who were still trying to dislodge the elected government.
The NPF Youth Wing also opined that the unfortunate demise of the two youths and injuries to many could have been avoided had not the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) members “senselessly incited the innocent boys to confront the state force”.
Therefore, NPF Youth Wing has held JCC responsible for the deaths of the two youths “and not the state govt .machineries.”
The youth wing further said the tribal bodies totally failed to act with sanity and tolerance and instead attempted to bulldoze the issue with emotionally charged “chauvinistic attitude” which led to anarty and mobocracy in the state, particularly in Dimapur.
It also accused that the tribal bodies of playing the role of opposition all these days by opposing and meddling in every programme and policy of the state government.
The youth wing reiterated the NPF-led DAN government would never enact laws that would be detrimental to Nagas or work against the interest of the people and instead the government worked tirelessly for the people.
The youth wing also alleged that some people with “ulterior motive” have been attempting to discredit the government by trying to thwart and disrupt all the progressive policy of the government.
It opined that in a democratic set up, people should allow the democratically elected government to carry out its responsibility independently without random interference from every quarter.
Further the youth wing said at times tribal bodies should intervene but it was uncalled for to meddle in all issues. It said ULB election was issue that did not warrant the tribal bodies to “create chaos and warlike situation in the state.”
. Youth Wing maintained that it would be very difficult for the Nagas to co-exist as people if such trend continued.
The NPF youth wing has therefore appealed to all the Nagas to “come to sense” and join hands to amicably resolve the present impasse with sagacity and magnanimity.
Meanwhile, the youth wing also condemned the destruction of Mokokchung division NPF office and burning of effigies of chief minister and NPF president. It accused supporters of Imkong L Imchen, MLA, for these acts. It said this was second instant where the party office has been vandalised by Imkong L. Imchen and his group.
Meanwhile, NPF youth wing has expressed deep sorrow at the death of two youths, late Khriesavizo and late Bendangnungsang, in an unfortunate incident and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed that the Almighty grant them solace at this hour of grief.
