
The show “seek the lost” was staged here on Thursday directed by V.Uto Chishi adopted from the book of Jonah from the bible at Christian Higher Secondary School (CHSS), Covenant Hall, Dimapur with deputy commissioner Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome as the chief guest.
The show was organized by the National School of Drama, New Delhi in collaboration with Unity College of Teacher Education (UCTE) and Nagaland Theatre fraternity.
In a brief speech, Kesonyu that theaters and drama are very much part of our society, “we” talk about movies, animation but one of the profession which was largely ignored but has scope is theater.
Kesonyu was particularly happy with the kind of emphasized given to theater and drama which was previously ignored by the educational system in the past.
Kesonyu said that theater and dramas have a lot of connection to the real world. It was a reflection of the society we live in, he added.
He maintained that through dramas and theater one could make a lot of discovery.
He urged and appealed upon to take dramas and theater as a serious business which have a huge scope to be taken as a profession.
It may be mentioned that in India National School of drama which is one of the foremost theater training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. National School of Drama was set up by Sangeet Watak Agademi in 1959 as one of its constituent units that became an independent entity in 1975, which is fully financed by the ministry of culture, government of India and has been working as an autonomous organization under it.
Through extension programmes the National School of Drama attempts to connect it’s headquarter in Delhi to various theatre groups across the country with a series of planned theatre workshops. Taking into account the specific needs of each region, it has been imparting training and producing plays with the theatre workers spread all over the country.
However the school has also been active in initiating different activities in the North-East region in the country that has a rich and varied culture.
Nagaland Theatre Fraternity (NTF) was formed in the year 2002 by the likeminded youth after completion of 45 days production oriented residential theatre workshops organized by National school of drama New- Delhi in collaboration with NEZCC, Dimapur.
