ICAR-AICRP (VC) adopts Hekeshe village; conducts training

ICAR- AICRP (VC), Nagaland Centre, SASRD,NU under TSP (Tribal Sub Plan) adopted Hekheshe village and conducted a day-long training  programme on “methods of composting and its application in vegetable production & mushroom cultivation as an enterprise” on March 24. 
During the inaugural programme, publications on PRA of Hekeshe village and 6 bilingual folders on English and Nagamese on various topics were released by dean, SASRD, NU. 
Lecture on the main topic was delivered by assistant prof., dept. of Agricultural Chemistry & Soil Science, Jurisandhya Barik Bordoloi and Dr. Narola Pongener, assistant prof., dept. of Plant Pathology respectively where practical demonstration on different composting methods and mushroom cultivation was carried out. 
The training was attended by 75 farmer participants out of which, 20 farmers were selected based on their interest and participation during the training. Wrap up session was conducted by prof. Akali Sema Incharge TSP, ICAR-AICRP (VC) with vegetable seeds and spawn distribution to all the participants and tools distribution to the 20 selected farmers. 
According to ICAR, this is the first village adopted under tribal sub plan (AICRP-VC), SASRD: NU wherein various activities will be carried out for the benefit of the tribal people. The programme was coordinated by Yongkongtula, Dr. Moakala Changkija, Dr. Aastik Jha and Dr. Waluniba.
The inaugural programme was chaired by prof. Akali Sema, Incharge TSP, ICAR-AICRP (VC) and the programme was graced by the dean, Prof. R.C Gupta, SASRD, NU. The welcome address was delivered Dr. S.P Kanaujia, P.I, ICAR-AICRP (VC) followed by the introduction of the participants. Brief remark was given by the dean, SASRD, NU and GB of Hekheshe village. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Waluniba, scientist (Asst. Entomologist).
