Of Continuing with its effort to meet several apex tribe bodies of Nagaland, Working Group (WG) of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) held a joint meeting with Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) at the Oking on Tuesday, to exchange views and ideas on common social, political and historical issues confronting mainland Nagas at this crucial hour of our existence.
In a statement, WG said that the historical milestone such as the plebiscite of 1951 was entrenched in the meeting. NNPGs also acknowledged that the spirit of nationalism of Chakhesang had been the backbone of Naga political movement. It stated that “Chakhesang Nagas have given the Naga nation some of the bravest freedom fighters and ablest generals in Naga history”. They have also acted as spiritual guides and therefore as pioneers of the struggle, the “active participation, contribution and opinion of the Chakhesang matters much in any future political settlement”, the statement read.
Meanwhile, CPO lauded the positive steps taken by NNPGs for the common interest of the Nagas. CPO viewed that reconciliation and unity among Nagas should be pursued earnestly to find an honourable and acceptable political solution to the long drawn Indo-Naga political issue.
