The touring NPF central team and NPF Mokokchung division held a co-ordination meeting with NPF party frontals of 22 Arkakong Assembly Constituency, Wednesday, at Longzung Community Hall, Chuchuyimlang.
Speaking at the meeting, team leader & advisor to chief minister (Political) Huska Yepthomi stated that Naga Tribal Hohos have forfeited the cause of the long Naga political aspiration by protecting Article 371 A, alone, through the boycott of the ULB election, when the Government of India (GoI) was willing to offer more than the statehood of Nagaland. By more than statehood, he said that was the reason for the cease fire and many rounds of talks between the GoI and the various UGs.
Huska asserted that the mass of Nagas were being confused by certain elements in the Naga society with selfish motives. He said NPF was not just a political party but “NPF is a peoples’ movement”, and was determined to find a final solution to the Naga issue, he added. Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Huska Yepthomi said that though there many talks of a split in the NPF party, he categorically asserted “there will be no such split”. He said, some individuals may leave the party but that it would not shake the stability of the party. Moreover, when queried about the floating of a new party in Nagaland, he stated that there was talk in the market about Neiphiu Rio floating a new party but he said that it would not affect the NPF.
While talking about the alliance with the BJP of the DAN government, Huska said “BJP is with us but we are with them”, we will have a friendly match with but there will be no seat adjustment (in regard to the 2018 Nagaland Legislative Assembly election). Short speeches were delivered by NPF Nagaland farmers wing president, Lanukaba and NPF Mokokchung division president Moasangba Jamir. Welcome address was given by NPF Arkakong A/C president P Toshi Jamir. The NPF central team and Mokokchung division is on a tour of the 10 assembly constituencies of Mokokchung district.
