The Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) organized a felicitation programme for the successful students of HSLC and HSSLC Examination 2017 on May 20 at Aghunato Town Baptist church.
Speaking at the program, youth resource and sports officer, Atoli yeptho said that, students should choose their streams according to their potential and abilities and not through peer pressure or parents decision. She encouraged the successful students to strive for excellence as ‘mediocrity’ and ‘average’ has no place in today’s competitive world. She exhorted the students to study harder and become a key to their own life.
The programme was chaired by ESSU finance secretary Vinato Awomi and cultural secretary Honi Kiho, welcome address was delivered by president ESSU Hutopu yeptho and associate Pastor, youth, ATBC, Vitoho Yeptho invoked God’s blessings.
Speech on Behalf of the HSLC students was delivered by Kilikali.K Yepthomi and Limeka Yepthomi, general secretary ESSU Tovi Kiba, proposed the vote of thanks and benediction by Pastor, ATBC Khehoi Awomi.
Around five hundred students were felicitated. Ten distinction holders were awarded with cash award by the ESSU.
It may be mentioned that it was the first such programme organised by the ESSU which was sponsored by parliamentary secretary of Soil and Water Conservation Pukhayi Assumi.
