DDMA Mon extends relief to families

District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Mon on Saturday handed over emergency relief to families affected by heavy storm which occurred at Mon headquarters on June 5.
Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Tsenthungo E Ngullie, on behalf of the DDMA, went house to house and gave away Rs. 5000 to family “completely affected families”; Rs. 4000 to “severely affected families” and Rs. 3000 to “partially affected families”.
72 households /families were reported to be affected by the wind storm, as per DDMA report.
Earlier, the wind storm caused landslide at various locations, cutting off Mon headquarters from the rest of the district and subdivisions. However, due to the quick response of the district administration, DDMA, PWD and GREF, most of the roads were cleared. 
Due to heavy landslide at Chingai ward, Mon-Namtola road would not cleared yet however efforts are being made to restore the road at the earliest. In this regard, the district administration have advised travelers to ply NST – Shantham Circular Road connecting Mon -Namtola road.
