Over 17 thousand cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) were destroyed Monday, at DMC dumping site in the presence of chief magistrate Dimapur (CMD), public prosecutor, Dimapur, 36 Assam Rifles commandant, SDO (C), Dimapur, Dimapur Bar Association (DBA) president, deputy commissioner of police (crime branch) Dimapur Naga Women Hoho (DNWH), OCPS Diphupar, in-charge officer of the case SI Sanitemsu and GBs of the neighbouring colonies.
The cases were seized during the operation carried out by 36 AR in the month of May, at 3rd Mile, Dimapur and seized items were kept at Diphupar malkana police station.
DNWH president Nungshirenla Aier remarked that such destructions of bottles was a “face wash drama” which has been continuing over the years without any positive result.
In this regard, she called upon the responsible authority manning the check gates to ban carriers of liquor to enter.
From the economic point of view, Aier stated that if people manning the gate remained firm than such business would be discouraged. She said this would automatically lead to economic development and there would be no need to conduct such destruction exercise. She further assured that every bottle would be destroyed.
