Nagaland Fashion Week from June 22 to 24

The first edition of Nagaland Fashion Week organized by Nagaland Designers’ Association (NDA) will be held from June 22 to 24 at hotel Theja Fort, Dimapur.
The theme of the event initiates the concept of Nagaland synonymous to inspiration; a chance to get inspired and to aspire many people about the richness of culture the Nagas possess and creative designing in particular.
During a press conference held at Circuit House, Dimapur; Sunday, NDA disclosed that the main objectives behind the event is to provide platform to the upcoming designers, promote career in fashion among the Naga youths, encourage and provide platform to designers who remain stagnant after formal training, provide platform for aspiring models, encourage designers to participate and compete in the National and International level, discover creative people with raw talent (those who are keen to design but without any formal designing training). 
The event also aims to transmogrify the rich and vivacious traditional Naga attire into modern silhouettes executing a contemporary twist through fashion, provide opportunity to promote and market ethnic Naga inspire designer’s label within and outside the state, provide a platform for independently owned boutique showcase their creative designs and to provide opportunity to upcoming individual in allied field like models, make-up artistes, hair-stylists and photographers.  The event will highlight 3 categories of designers as Emerging, Novice and Enthusiast. 
So far 15 designers have confirmed their participation and day one of the event will be ‘preliminary round’, day two ‘elimination round’ and the grand finale will be held on third and final day. The event will rope in prominent and renowned public figures to be part of the show while various upcoming artistes will be performing throughout the event. 
All participants will be awarded NFW certificate from NDA and various awards shall be given based on the judgement by an expert panel of jury. 
Winner of Emergent category will be given the opportunity to showcase his/her collection at Northeast Fashion Week while winner of Novice category will be rewarded to work as an intern for a month in any of the reputed fashion houses/industries outside the state. Winner of Enthusiast category will be awarded with a training of 3 months in any fashion institutes and in addition, all category winners will be given gift hampers. The panel of jury will include Hope Centre for Excellence (Music and Arts Centre), Dimapur managing director-Zubeno Mozhui, senior fashion designer and Windfall proprietor-Bambi Kevichüsa, pattern designer-Benthungo Kithan, Pattern Designer while the event will be hosted by Peteneinuo Venuh. 
State Planning Board deputy chairman Khuzholüzo Nienu, MLA will be the chief guest on June 22. Tenyimia Women Union Dimapur president Aba Khing and NSDMA OSD-Johnny Ruangmei will be Lady of the Event on June 23 and Man of the Event on June 24 respectively.
