Music lovers, artistes and professionals came together to celebrate the World Music Day 2017 along with the rest of the world during a mega open air live concert held at State Stadium, Dimapur on Wednesday.
People of all age groups numbering over 7,000 gathered at the venue to witness some of the most happening, renowned and promising artistes in the state.
Catering to the need of a host of taste for different genres, more than 25 artistes performed some of the most popular songs, pieces and instrumentals all on a single stage which in itself was a great accomplishment taking into consideration the huge amount of resources, manpower, technical capability and artiste management put into action.
The event will go down the annals as one of the most memorable moments for all the music lovers and artistes alike.
Much to the organizers and the gathered music fans, the unpredictable monsoon weather paved a pleasant way for the show to be held interrupted as it stretched to over 3 and a half hours.
Midway through the concert, chief guest for the event and Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA in a short speech greeted the gathered youth on the account of the global event.
He also said he was representing the state government to be part of the worldwide event.
The organizers, heaping a huge praise for the MLA, said he was one leader who had always been available especially to the youths. They also informed that Azo was the only politician willing to be part of the event when approached and came forward forgoing all his prior engagements and taking part in an activity which the youths were most interested in.
Music Task Force director, Gugs Chishi who was also present at the event performed a classic hit by Neil Young adding more colour and glamour to the event and also playing the role of a guiding force for the music aficionados.
As informed by the organizers, a freewill donation drive was made during the event where a total sum of Rs 17,885 was collected from the crowd which will all proceed to sponsoring underprivileged kids.
During the donation drive all the performing artistes collaborated to perform one of the most globally known song, “We Are The World” written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. The song perfectly matched the atmosphere of the goodwill gesture initiated by the organizers to lookout for even the less privileged kids.
Music schools including Great Commission Music Academy (4th Mile), Musicians Academy (Purana Bazaar), Soloist Workstation (Duncan), The Institute for Music Education (Duncan), has come forward heeding to the call for sponsoring underprivileged kids given by the organizers.
Solo artistes who performed during the event included Alobo Naga feat. DJ Amar, Renbeni Odyuo feat. DJ Sumika, Abel Assumi, Jano Nyekha, Thunglamo Ngullie, Meribeni Patton, Samuel Lotha, Muno Shiu, Moatungit Jamir and Khochamo Kikon.
Six bands including The Gluttones, Brainstorm Island, Aria, Yellow Beacon and Demon Arch and Nean in House performed while music schools including Nagaland Conservatory, Joey’s Studio, Mountain Music Academy, Hope Centre for Excellence and Soloist Workstation sent their representatives to participate in the event.
Thanks to the responsible and concrete initiative taken up by Sky Entertainment, Crescendo Events and Time Institute of Music Education (TIME) along with tech and gear support from Shiu Lights, Encore, A.J Power, Action Powerline and Crescendo, the artistes and music lovers seemingly had a terrific time.
The event was also supported by Fusion, 1 Outer, Barefoot, Heritage Publishing House, Uniglobe Enterprise (Royal Enfield), Aier’s Enclave and Liberty Tent.
