EDSSU condemns NSF action

East Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (EDSSU) in support of WSSU has condemned NSF for organizing the felicitation programme of HSLC & HSSLC on July 8 despite the date being Sumi festival of Tuluni. A condemnation note by EDSSU president, Kanato S. Awomi and general secretary, Ato Achumi stated that it was unbecoming of respected student body like NSF for failing to uphold its preamble to “preserve our culture, customs and traditional heritages” and going ahead of the mentioned programme despite an appeal by SKK to postpone it. 

EDSSU stated that it was insulting and cruel that the NSF chose to hurt the sentiments of Sumi community in general. The union extended its support to the demand made by the Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) on mass resignation of the NSF team on moral ground. The union also urged its Sumi leaders to continue to strengthen the unity and progress of its people as this hour of humiliation.
