July 14, 2017 | by admin

Following the devastating landslide at Kiruphema along NH-29on July 9, the state capital has been gripped with shortage of fuel, particularly petrol.
The landslide has crippled movement of heavy vehicles that carry essential commodities to the state capital. When contacted, one of the workers at a fuel outlet told this Correspondent that the oil tankers were struck in the landslide area, while some tankers were being delayed due to the bad road condition. The fuel outlets were hopeful that the tankers would reach Kohima by Friday.
DC Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan informed that a meeting was held with Sr. SP, Kohima; Kohima Municipal Council, Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries, EE (R&B) south division, EE (R&B) Chiephobozou and administrative officers on July 11 to take stock of the deteriorating condition of the Dimapur-Kohima road and the resultant effect on movement of vehicles and supply of essential commodities. In this regard, DC has directed EE (R&B) south division to carry out necessary maintenance works at Zubza-Kiruphema.
DC also directed EE (R&B) Chiephobozou to carry out necessary maintenance work along Chieswema-Peducha (10 Mile) road and also to carry out strengthening works of lower Dzudza Bridge which is at a risk of caving in as a result of heavy movement of traffic.
The DC also informed that he took stock of the availability of essential commodities in the town and asked KMC administrator and KCCI to ensure availability of the same.
