NYK, NSS Mokokchung conduct ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’

Swachhta Pakhwada was carried out by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) and National Service Scheme (NSS), Mokokchung on August 9. The programme is underway since August 1 to 15 under the directive of ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. 
A press note by NYK Mokokchung district youth coordinator, John Makhabo stated that NSS unit of People’s College, Fazl Ali College, NYK, DSO dept. and youth club members joined together for clean and green society with 138 participants. 
NYK Mokokchung has been carrying forward the cleanliness drive starting from August 1 with neighbourhood youth parliament, wherein the youth present were imparted knowledge on the flagship programmes of Govt., Sanitation and Swachh Bharat Mission at Salangtem community hall, Mokokchung. It was attended by 48 youths. Prime Minister’s message was read out and pledge was also taken. NYK national youth volunteers (NYVs) jointly took up cleanliness drive and neighbourhood youth parliament at Chungtia, Mopungchuket, Mokokchung and Chuchuyimlang villages till date.  The NYVs have carried out environment building awareness, own village cleaning, campaign for open defecation free, house to house campaign to keep village clean, institutional cleaning, cleaning of public places etc. More cleanliness programme have been planned in the coming days.
Swachhta Pakhwada will be undertaken by all the districts of Nehru Yuva Kendras and NSS by involving NYVs, affiliated youth clubs, local youth and other key stake holders in the district and motivate them to organize and participate whole heartedly in the campaign.
YPFD: Young People’s Fellowship, Dimapur (YPFD) as part of Swachhta Pakhwada (Fortnight) organized a cleanliness drive on August 5, at Burma Camp Dimapur under the theme, “don’t be greedy. It’s time to be greeny.” The cleanliness drive, an act of volunteerism was initiated in collaboration with the Nehru Yuva Kendra Dimapur, Government of India and ministry of sports Affairs. Altogether 17 young people participated.
KIGWEMA: Swachhta Pakhwada, a cleanliness drive was observed at Kigwema village on August 9, organized by the NYK, Kohima in collaboration with the directorate of Urban Development Swachh Bharat Mission, Nagaland. Sanitation drive was initiated by the NYVs, Kohima along with the VAK club of Kigwema with the theme “to keep the village clean and green”leading to cleaner and greener society for healthier surroundings. Youths from various clubs, Kigwema youth organization, village council and Kigwema students’ union took part in the sanitation drive.
