Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles-IGAR (North) has been organising various programmes for various sections of the society across Nagaland.
3 Naga Hills: 3 (Naga Hills) Battalion Assam Rifles in collaboration with Naga Hospital, Kohima and Red Ribbon Club organized HIV screen test on August 9 at Sazolie College, Jotsoma (Kohima). Resource persons, staff members and 250 students of Sazolie College attended the screening test. Youth were also educated on HIV and AIDS.
Jotsoma village- 3 Naga Hills also organised a lecture and screened documentary movie to spread awareness on HIV & AIDS amongst children and youth on August 2, at Jotsoma village. The lecture was followed by a documentary which brought out various facts, and ways to avert HIV. Altogether 45 students and nine teachers of government school, Jotsoma village Khel, Kohima attended the programme.
GHS Tasazhu, Jotsoma-3 (Naga Hills) Battalion Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on August 10, at Government High School Tasazhu, Jotsoma on the topic ‘India as an emerging super power’. Altogether, 60 students attended the lecture programme which was followed by an interactive session on the modernisation and development of the Indian Army.
7 Assam Rifles: 7 Assam Rifles organised an awareness lecture on HIV & AIDS at Trinity School, Kiphire on August 8 with RMO 7 Assam Rifles Captain Vignesh V as the resource person. Altogether 100 students along with teachers and staff attended the event.
Akhegwo- 7 Assam Rifles organised a “lecture cum workshop” at Akhegwo on August 6, to spread awareness amongst the populace on the “importance of healthy lifestyle to prevent diseases and also to curb the prevalent diseases” in the village. A total of 40 people attended the workshop including GBs, VCCs and school teachers.
32 Assam Rifles: 32 Assam Rifles organized a drawing cum painting competition on August 7, at Mount Zion School, Khusiabill village, Dimapur under the theme “Importance of Independence Day”. Around 30 students from class-1 to 10 standard participated at the programme. The event was followed by prize distribution to winners and refreshment.
EHSS Thilixu village- 32 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on “Nationalism Employment Opportunities for Youth” at Eden Higher Secondary School, Thilixu village, Dimapur on August 3. 30 students of 10th, 11 and 12th standards attended the lecture.
Mount Hermon School- 32 Assam Rifles organised a debate competition on HIV & AIDS awareness on August 5 at Mount Hermon School, Dimapur. The aim of the event was to spread awareness about HIV & AIDS and to identify and promote the skills of budding talents. 30 students attended the event in which 12 students from various age groups participated enthusiastically in the competition.
Zeliangrong Village- 32 Assam Rifles organised a drawing cum poster making competition on August 1 at Government Middle School, Zeliangrong Village, Dimapur. The aim of the event was to promote the artistic talent and educate the students about importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. A total 16 of students of various age groups participated in the competition.
Shozukhu Village- 32 Assam Rifles organised a cleanliness drive at Shozukhu Village, Dimapur on August 3. Altogether, 25 villagers attended the event to clean the area in order to keep the surroundings neat and tidy and spread the awareness amongst other villagers toward Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Tening village- 32 Assam Rifles conducted an interaction with GBs at Tening village, Peren on August 3. Issues pertaining to development projects and other government scheme were discussed during the interactions. Eight GBs from Tening and neighbouring villages attended the interaction.
Mount Zion School, Khushavil- 32 Assam Rifles organized drawing cum painting competition on the theme ‘Importance of Independence Day’ at Mount Zion School, Khushavil village, Dimapur on August 7 to spread awareness about Independence Day and to identify & honour the skills of budding talent. The event was attended by 30 students.
GMS Indisen Village- 32 Assam Rifles organised a talent hunt competition at Government Middle School, Indisen village, Dimapur on August 8. The aim of the event was to spread awareness about Independence Day and to identify and honour the skills of budding talents. The event was attended by 35 students.
Ebenezeer orphanage home- 32 Assam Rifles organised a special screening of documentary movie on the occasion of upcoming Independence Day at Ebenezeer Orphanage Home, Indisen village, Dimapur on August 10. The event was attended by 30 students and staff of Ebenezeer orphanage home
JN Aier College, Diphupar- 32 Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on career in defence at JN Aier College, Diphupar on August 10. The programme was attended by 150 youths.
36 Assam Rifles: 36 Assam Rifles (AR) under aegis of HQ IGAR (N) organised a lecture on August 7 at All Saints Higher Secondary School, Peren. 70 students attended the programme and shared their views on the significance and importance of Independence for the citizens of the country.
Athibung- On account of the forthcoming Independence Day, 36 Assam Rifles under aegis of HQ IGAR (N) organised a debate competition at Christian Senior Secondary School at Athibung, Peren on August 4. The theme of the competition was “India as Emerging Super Power”. 80 students witnessed participants express their views with much enthusiasm.
AR Public School, Jalukie- 36 Assam Rifles organised a “drawing-cum-poster-making competition” at Assam Rifles Public School, Jalukie, Peren on August 5. The aim of the event was to educate the students about importance of Independence Day.
Hereka Secondary School, Tening- A lecture on HIV & AIDS was conducted at Hereka Secondary School, Tening by 36 Assam Rifles on August 5. The aim of the lecture was to spread awareness about cause of spread and preventive measures and discuss stigmas attached to HIV & AIDS. A total of 30 students attended the lecture.
St. Francis School Tening- A drawing-cum-poster making competition was conducted at St Francis School, Tening, Peren on August 2 by 36 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(North). The event was conducted on the theme “Importance of Independence Day”.
36 AR: 36 Assam Rifles organised an interaction with the youth of Tenning village, Peren on August 1 in commemoration of the forthcoming Independence Day. The interaction spread awareness on the struggle of Independence and the role played by the Hereka movement under Rani Gaidinliu. 21 young men including the secretaries of Tenning Village Youth Council and Tenning Town Youth Council attended the event.
ASHSS Peren- 36 Assam Rifles organized a lecture at All Saints Higher Secondary School, Peren on August 7. Altogether 70 students attended the event.
Jalukie Town- 36 Assam Rifles conducted an awareness programme on ‘drug free Nagaland’ at Jalukie town, Peren August 10. The aim of the event was to educate and spread awareness about ill effects of drug abuse and importance of protecting the youth from this menace. A total of 65 youths from Jalukie and neighbouring villages attended the event. 36 Assam Rifles (AR) also organised a weapon display for the student’s on August 12, at Jalukie, Peren. The event was witnessed by 85 students from Government Higher Secondary School and St Xavier School, Jalukie.
3 Assam Rifles: 3 Assam Rifles organised drawing and poster making competition under the theme “Independence Day” on August 1, at Dainty Buds Higher Secondary School, Kohima. Altogether, 76 students participated in the competition. Prizes were given to encourage all the participants. 3 battalion Assam Rifles also organised screening of documentary movie with the theme “Independence Day” at Dainty Buds Higher Secondary School, Kohima on August 9. A total of 31 teachers and 700 students attended the event.
3 Assam Rifles organized an interaction with village GBs of various village GBs of Pfuchama, Minister Hill, Phesama, Jail Colony, AG Colony, Lerie Colony, Lower Chandmari and Forest Colony on August 7. During the interaction issues concerning development, role of youth, medical aid and assistance were discussed.
5 Assam Rifles: 5 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) organised a lecture on ‘Independence Day’ on August 3, at Orientation Theological College, Yangli. The lecture focused upon India our nation, its geographic features, patriotism and national integration.
Akuluto Town- 5 Assam Rifles also organised an interaction programme with village GBs and civil dignitaries of Akuluto Town, Zunheboto District on August 1. 5 AR also organized drawing competition at Hill to Home Children School, Akuluto town. The competition was organised to provide an opportunity to the students to showcase their talent in drawing and motivate them. The programme concluded with distribution of prizes to students.
5 Assam Rifles also organised a ‘Friendly Volleyball Match’ for the locals of Akuluto Town on August 8. The match was played between team of govt high school, Akuluto town and troops of 5 Assam Rifles.
Atoizu village- 5 Assam Rifles conducted an interaction/ awareness programme on ‘Independence Day’ for the locals of Atoizu village on August 5. The aim of lecture was to bind and motivate all the locals towards the sovereign nation ‘India’.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chare- 5 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on August 11, at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chare on the Motto of Drug Free Nagaland. The lecture was conducted with an aim to sensitize the youth against various kinds of Drugs, its harm and abuses to the mankind.
7 Assam Rifles: 7 Assam Rifles organised a drawing/poster making competition at Agape School (Kiphire) on August 1. The competition was organised for students of class II to class IV. Assistant Commandant Subhrajyoti Laskar, addressed to the students and staff before the event. A total of 40 students took part in the competition which concluded with prize distribution for the students.
Cambridge School, Kiphire- 7 Assam Rifles organised a “Lecture & Screening of documentary movie on AIDS on August 2, at Cambridge School, Kiphire. Screening of documentary movie was followed by a lecture on AIDS by Assistant Commandant Subhrajyoti Laskar. The objective was to create awakening about HIV & AIDS. Altogether, 80 students along with teachers and staff attended the programme.

9 Assam Rifles: 9 Assam Rifles organised an interaction programme with village GBs, council chairman and youth members of Zeizou and Zadhima II villages under Chiephobozou Sub Division on August 3.
Nerhe Model village- 9 Assam Rifles organised awareness campaign, counselling classes and screened a documentary movie on HIV & AIDS in collaboration with KRIPA Foundation at council hall of Nerhe Model village, under Chiephobozou sub division, Kohima District on August 2. The programme also included interface wherein people shared their experience on the subject. Approximately 120 people of Chiephobozou including VCCs, GBs and youth from various villages in Chiephobozou sub division participated in the awareness campaign.
GHS Chiechema- 9 Assam Rifles organised a drawing competition with the theme of nationalism at Government High School, Chiechema, Kohima on August 1 to celebrate forthcoming Independence Day. The drawing competition was aimed to encourage creativity of children boost the morale of students. A total of 30 students participated in the competition.
TMTHSS Pfutsero- 9 Assam rganised HIV & AIDS awareness campaign and conducted a counselling class on HIV & AIDS and its prevention among secondary school students at TMT Higher Secondary School, Pfutsero on August 8. 90 students from class X, XI and XII including three teaching staff and the principal of the school attended the campaign. 9 Assam Rifles also organised drawing and poster making competition for the students of TMT Higher Secondary School, Pfutsero on August 12, to celebrate the upcoming 71st Independence Day and also a documentary movie with the theme of ‘Independence Day’ on August 9.
15 Assam Rifles: 15 Assam Rifles organised a drawing/ poster making competition at Holy Angel’s School, Noklak on August 1, to celebrate forthcoming Independence Day and promote swachh bharat abhiyan. Altogether 30 students participated in the event. 15 Assam Rifles also organised an interaction with village elders on August 3, at Noklak. The main motive of the interaction was to understand and address the concerns of the locals residing in the remote areas. Altogether, 71 village elders attended the interaction programme.
Chenglong Saddle Village- 15 Assam Rifles organised an awareness programme on drugs free Nagaland at Chenglong Saddle Village on August 7, to create awareness about narcotics, drugs, tobacco, its addiction and negative impact on physical and mental health. Altogether 30 civilians attended the programme.
Dan village- 15 Assam Rifles organised plantation drive on August 4, at Dan village. Altogether 40 saplings were planted during the drive which was attended by 20 local youth and villagers.
Shamator- 15 Assam Rifles organized an interaction / awareness programme on Independence with the youths of Shamator on August 5. Altogether 35 youths participated in the event who were also encouraged to join the Armed Forces and given information about various entries for recruitment. 15 Assam Rifles also organised a cleanliness drive programme in connection with Swatch Bharat Abhiyan at Shamator town incorporating children and villagers on August 8. Altogether 45 children and villagers participated in the event.
GHSS Shamator- 15 Assam Rifles organised a weapon display at Shamatore on August 10. Altogether 110 students and school staff from Government Higher Secondary School, Shamator town attended the event.
28 Assam Rifles: 28 Assam Rifles organized drawing/poster making competition on August 1, at Don Bosco School, Tseminyu. The aim of the programme was to spread the message of national unity to infuse the spirit of nationalism amongst school students. Altogether, 72 school students participated in the competition
41 Assam Rifles: 41 Assam Rifles organised a drawing-cum -poster making competition at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School August 4. The aim of the event was to educate the students about the effect of global Warming and pollution on our environment. 70 students of various age groups participated in the competition.
CHSS Chumukedima- A lecture-cum-extempore competition was conducted by 41 Assam Rifles at Cosmopolitan Higher Secondary School (CHSS), Chumukedima on August 2. The event was held to spread awareness amongst students on the importance of Independence Day.
GHS Khonoma- A drawing-cum-poster making competition was conducted by 41 Assam Rifles at Government High School, Khonoma on August 3. The theme of the event was, “Say No to Air Pollution and Deforestation”. 50 children from various age groups participated in the event.
DBHSS Zubza- 41 Assam Rifles (AR) organised drawing cum poster making competition on August 4, at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Zubza. The aim of the event was to educate the students about the effect of global Warming and pollution on our environment.
Altogether, 70 students of various age groups participated in the competition.
Medziphema- 41 Assam Rifles organised an inter school debate competition on ‘Social media – Boon or Bane’ at Medziphema, Dimapur August 8. A total of 12 students from eight different schools participated in the competition and 85 students witnessed the event.
Piphema- 41 Assam Rifles organised a lecture at village Community hall, Piphema, Dimapur on 08 Aug 2017. A total of 125 students and 25 teachers from government higher secondary school, Piphema and government primary school, Piphema attended the event.
Molvom and Bungsang village- 41 Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (N) organised various programs for students of Molvom and Bungsang village on August 12, at Community Hall, Molvom, Dimapur. The aim behind the event was to motivate and promote budding talent amongst students. The event was attended by 520 locals and students of Government Higher Secondary School, Government Middle School, Government Primary School & Christian School, Molvom.
44 Assam Rifles: 44 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture for the students at Yingli College, Longongkang, Longleng to instil a sense of patriotism and nationalism before the Independence Day. Development requires clean and corruption free society and the evil effects of corruption in the society and its impact on the current generation were discussed.
WHBC Tuli- 44 Assam Rifles conducted an interaction cum awareness programme for the students at World Hope Baptist Bible College, Tuli, Mokokchung district on August 3. The aim of the interaction cum awareness programme was to imbibe a feeling of patriotism in today’s generation and generate a sense of pride towards the upcoming Independence Day.
Mission School Changki- 44 Assam Rifles organized drawing competition for the students of Mission School at Changki, Mokokchung on August 5 with the theme of marching ahead towards a colourful and better India of tomorrow. Prizes were distributed for encouragement and the event concluded with National Anthem and a vote of thanks.
New Chungtia- 44 Assam Rifles (AR) organized talent hunt competition on August 11, at Community Hall of New Chungtia village Mokokchung district wherein 35 young participants within the age group of 10-18 years exhibited their talent in solo singing, dancing and group singing with great exuberance.
35 Assam Rifles: 35 Assam Rifles conducted drawing and poster making competition on August 4 at Assam Rifles Public School, Naginimora which was attended by 35 students along with 4 teachers. Assistant commandant Subhashis Sharma of 35 Assam Rifles encouraged the students to set goals and work hard to attain the same.
22 Assam Rifles: 22 Assam Rifles organised screening of documentary movie for the students of Phek town in prior to Independence Day at Phek on August 12. A total of 61 students and 2 teachers of govt higher secondary school and 38 students and 2 teachers of Assam rifles school watched the movie.
40 Assam Rifles: 40 Assam Rifles provided assistance to a cancer patient by blood donation at Tuensang August 10. The patient’s family had approached the unit for O+ve blood, as the same was not available in the district hospital blood bank.
SJS Tuensang- 40 Assam Rifles conducted painting competition for students of St John’s School at Tuensang on August 10. Themes for the competition were HIV & AIDS free Nagaland and national integration. The Commandant and 2IC of 40 Assam Rifles also interacted with the senior students of Class XI & XII and apprised them upon the role of youth towards national integration and development.
