Unauthorized GC, CEC meeting being summoned: NPF M&PB

August 21, 2017 | by admin

NPF media & press bureau (M&PB) has said that the so-called General Convention (GC) summoned on September 20 by Neiphiu Rio was illegal, unauthorized, unconstitutional and ultra vires.
NPF M&PB pointed out that Rio was no longer a member of the NPF party and summoning of the GC was a futile exercise by desperate group of suspended and expelled NPF members.
Further, NPF said the party also took note of the illegal notice being circulated on social media– calling for a meeting of the CEC on August 22, by one “unauthorized person by the name Thangsat Kuki, former NPF office secretary and currently with Rio group.
Citing the party’s constitution, NPF reminded that any member of the party may requisition a meeting of the CEC by presenting a memorandum to the president only after being signed by 1/3rd or more of the CEC. Such a meeting can be convened within 15 days from the date of receipt, it added.
However, it said the NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu was neither in receipt of any requisition letter signed or attested by the required 1/3rd members of the CEC, nor has he authorized such a meeting.
It also informed that the suspended member, Neiphiu Rio, has not been delegated the power by the NPF president to convene the GC.
In this regard NPF has asked the party rank and file and the public that the circular calling for a meeting of the CEC on August 22 be treated as an illegal, mischievous and malafide, with the sole intent of creating confusion in the minds of the CEC members.
