Drawing attention to the plight of farmers due to incessant rain from July to August, the Jalukieram Village Council (JVC) has appealed the government to extend any possible help towards the damage caused by natural calamities.
A press note by JVC chairman, Samdineu stated that due to heavy rain and flood farmers have incurred lost of upto 25000 to 30000 tins of paddy, in addition to loss of cultivated areas of around 40 farmers through landslide and soil erosion. JVC stated that farmers were helpless now as they solely depend on agriculture and their total loss in terms of cash would amount to around Rs 3500000/ adversely affecting the villagers.
JVC had also submitted an appeal note appended by chairman Samdineu, secretary Teinchibeu and head GB Dinbui to SDO (C) to depute officers or personally investigate/verify the spot and take proper action for welfare of affected farmers.
