KVK foundation stone laid at Longtroktrok

MLA from Kiphire-Pungro contintuency, T. Torechu said that coming up of KVK was a boon for the people of Kiphire district bound to improve the farming community and help agricultural output in the region. He said this as chief guest during the foundation stone laying ceremony of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Longtroktrok, some 4 km away from Kiphire town on Thursday. 
Torechu urged upon the farming community to take advantage of the rich bio-diversity that Kiphire offered and joint hands with KVK to develop in agricultural area. He also asked them to inculcate the habit of work culture and for elders to pass on the traditional agricultural know-how to younger generation. 
Joint director, ICAR Nagaland, Dr. D. J  Rajkhowa said with the opening of KVK in Kiphire all 11 districts in Nagaland has been covered.  On development of infastructure,  KVK administrative infrastructure director, ATARI Zone-V11, Dr. Bidyut C. Deka said it would take some time as there were certain processes to be completed. Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Dr. Ngachan expressed his satisfaction in opening KVK in Kiphire. He also said Kiphire has huge agricultural potentials economically. 
Guest of honour, deputy commissioner Kiphire, Sedevikho Khro said that co-operation between farming community and KVK was vital in achieving the desired goal. Commissioner and secretary, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, M.K Mero, said it was a milestone achievement for ICAR for its initiative in opening KVK in Kiphire.
ADG (April, Extension) ICAR New Delhi, Dr V.P Chahal, maintained that though there had been technological advancement in agricultural sector it was yet to reach farmers. He also felt the need to empower farming women community as women constitute large chunk of agricultural workforce.  APC and commissioner and secretary Agriculture, Imkonglemba in his concluding remark said that unless if banking institutions does not give loan to farmers, expansion in agricultural area was not possible.  He also emphasized on the importance of purchasing power of farmers.
