Khelhoshe Polytechnic Teachers’ Association (KPTA) on Sunday demanded full payment of pending salary of fixed-pay faculty members of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu, which has not been paid since March 2017.
KPTA made the demand a day after Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu Student’s Union (KPASU) served an ultimatum on the state government to release the pending salary of the fixed-pay faculty members on or before September 12.
The association also cautioned the government/authority that it would not accept any written/verbal assurance in the event the matter was not solved as per KPASU’s ultimatum. According to KPTA president Imnasangba Jamir and general secretary Vizekhol Rhutso, 11 fixed pay faculty members have not received their salary since March 2017. In this connection, the association had submitted representations to the government/authority on May 19, 2017 and August 23, 2017 and even met them in person, but there was no response. Due to non-payment of salary/wages, fixed pay faculty members have resigned and the polytechnic has been functioning with acute shortage of facilities in some departments, KPTA said. Therefore, KPTA warned that it would be compelled to take its own course of action for the greater interest of the student’s community in the event the government failed to meet their demand.
