Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) has condemned the recent incident near the International Trade Centre (ITC) Dan, Pangsha under Noklak sub-division of Tuensang district, wherein three Assam Rifles jawans were injured in a bomb explosion allegedly triggered by suspected NSCN (K) cadres.
In a press release, KTC executive chairman, T Pamoi, and KTC president, L Ngon, said the KTC was saddened to witness such merciless action that has created a fear psychosis among the citizens.
Describing the Khiamniungans as peace loving citizens, KTC said there was no space for bloodshed and war within its jurisdiction.
Further, KTC expressed dismay at what it described “the random shelling on innocent public residence” resulting in damaging of properties. KTC said the children who were present at the time of incident miraculously survived.
In the light of the incident, KTC has appealed to “both the Indian army and the Naga nationalist” to refrain from creating such untoward incidents in the public area as it disturbed not only the minds of the people but also the regular activities of the villagers.
Meanwhile, Khiamniungan Tribal Council also called for maintaining peace in the entire Naga areas and upholding the ENPO peace zone resolution dated December 18, 2007.
It has urged all responsible to respect the sentiments of the general public and avoid hostilities in the near future.
