Training-cum-refresher programme for SHGs, NGOs

One day training-cum-refresher programme for Self-Help Group (SHG) leaders and NGOs was conducted by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) on September 13 at Longleng town.
In the programme, DDM, NABARD Sanasam Amarjit Mangng, stated that a large section of the society particularly rural and marginal farmers, landless labourer and rural artisans continue to have less access to institutional finance. 
He said that the SHG bank linkage programme was initiated to support these sections to have access to consumption loans to meet their emergent needs and hassle free access to financial services in a sustainable manner, leading to their social and economic empowerment. 
Mangng also spoke on the initiatives taken up by NABARD partnering with various agencies to ensure doubling of farmer’s income.  Resource person, Dr. Lily Ngullie gave presentation on “scientific rearing of livestock- poultry and piggery”, branch manager, L.Gangte also spoke on importance of financial discipline and record keeping. 
The programme was attended by SHG leaders of the district and office bearers of Phom Baptist Christian Association with subject matter specialist (animal science) and branch managers of SBI, Longleng.
