In a delayed clarification, Zeliang Peoples Organisation (N) has clarified its stand on consultative meeting with Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on May 8 at Khehoi designated camp and the subsequent press statement and publication on May 9.
According to a press release by ZPO (N) president, Kezin and secretary, Kerang Dumtta, the ZPO (N) executives along with president and secretary attended the consultative meeting on the invitation of the NNPGs “without agenda” of its own.
ZPO (N) stated that as part of the meeting “some points were discussed and mutually agreed upon for better understanding among the two entities” and which then published in local dailies without the knowledge of the organisation. It stated that the news item has invited criticism from some quarters of people and groups, accusing those meeting attendees of “taking drastic steps without proper consultation from the general masses”. ZPO (N) while offering sincere apology to those affected or hurt by the statement said it disowned the published statement herewith.
