In accordance with the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act 1989, Zhadima Village Council (ZVC) along with GBs, VCM and VDB members have unanimously resolved to continue to strictly implement total prohibition on sale of alcohol in the village and its jurisdiction.
This was informed in a press release by ZVC chairman, Kesovilhou Chiipuo, ZVC judicial secretary, Vikhelhou Khoubve and Zhadima VDB secretary, Roko Angami. The release informed that the village has it reaffirmed its resolution adopted on August 20, 2017 as follows: no person shall sell alcohol of any type in the village/jurisdiction, vehicle carrying alcohol in and around the village jurisdiction shall be penalized, any offenders shall be penalized as per the resolution adopted by the council along with its frontal organizations, every head of the family in the village as identified by the respective GBs of the eight khels of the village shall be made to sign an undertaking not to sell alcohol in the village and its jurisdiction, no person/persons shall create public nuisance, disturb, destroy or fight under the influence of alcohol in public place in the village for such offense a fine of Rs. 1000 for first offence and a week term for second offense.
In the event of any person/persons who commit any offense against the resolution, ZVC cautioned that he/she shall be punished with Rs. 5000 for first offence, one month jail term for second offence, six months jail term for third offence, one year jail term for fourth offence and any other penalty deemed fit on fifth offence.
