Tikhirs celebrate ‘Tsonglak Nye’ festival at Anatongre village

Anatongre village council organised “Tsonglak Nye” festival with parliamentary secretary of Land Revenue, VG and Women Resources Development, L Khumo as chief guest.
Khumo said that there was a time for war, to cry and peace. He emphasised on peace and has encouraged the gathering to maintain cordial relationship with the neighbouring villages and tribes. Encouraging the people to love one another, Khumo said that “Tsonglaknye” was a day of happiness. 
In his speech, he also encouraged and challenged the Tikhir leaders to work harder so that one day God would open the door for them. He also mentioned that though forefathers were gone, history remained with its great meaning.
President, Tikhir Tribal Council, Topan who also spoke on the occasion said that “Tikhir is not man made, it is a creation of God as in the genesis”. The president also compared the similarities of culture with that of other Naga tribes. 
President,Tikhir Students Union, S Longkumse encouraged the younger generation to give more importance to one’s own customs and practice inherited from forefathers. 
Cultural activities like folk song competition, play on the significance of Tikhir Tsonglak Nye and traditional dances were performed. 
The programme started with the invocation prayer by Y. L Tsinthong pastor Anatongre Baptist Church, significance of Tsonglaknye was shared by K. Kiusthong GB. 
T.T. Kheapong and K. L Nyingsu compered the programme.
It may be mentioned that “Tsonglak nye” is the main festival of Tikhir celebrated every year from October 9 to 12.
