
The National Theatre Festival 2017 held at Town Hall, Mokokchung from October 10 to 15 successfully concluded with Mokokchung ADC, W Manpai Phom, as the chief guest during the closing programme.
Speaking in the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the initiatives and efforts of the National School of Drama for promoting Theatre Art in India. He said by organizing such Theatre Festival even in a remote place like Mokokchung speaks volume of the commitment of the institution, through which unity and greater understanding would foster amongst the people of the country.
The ADC thanked all the participants representing different states for their active contribution in promoting Theatre Art saying that coming together from different regions and sharing different Cultures, Traditions and Customs truly reflect the Unity in Diversity of our great nation.
The chief guest conveyed his congratulations to Hill Theatre Nagaland led by its director, Bendang Walling for the successful participation and performance in the Festival.
On the last day of the Festival, the play Chinnamul was performed by Sarsa from Assam. Chinnamul which was directed by one of the theatre director from Assam, Asim Kumar Nath depicts the story of the people who strayed away from the mainstream of tradition and culture. It also takes an in-depth look at the crisis that emanates from surrendering identity and culture in accepting an alien culture.
