Advisor urban development and parliamentary secretary Irrigation and Flood Control, S. I. Jamir lauded pioneers of the colony stating that it was because of their sacrifice and hard work that the residents were able to celebrate 25th anniversary today.
He said this while speaking at the 25th anniversary of Sema Tilla colony Dimapur on October 13.
Stressing on the need of clean election, he called upon the people to support clean election campaign by NBCC. He stated that corruption has become rampant in Nagaland, which could be contained when the election system was thoroughly cleaned up. He also talked about the need to have an elected body for urban local bodies based upon which the centre would release funds.
Exhorting the gathering, Tovihoto called upon members of the colony to reflect upon and to forgive each other’s shortcomings and to take the community forward in the larger interest of the colony.
He said that 25 years was only a foundation for more jubilees to come and wished that blessings would be upon all members of the colony.
Earlier, chairperson Sema Tilla council K. Kinilimi delivered vote of thanks, GB Vihoshe Kini presented welcome address, while former chairman of the colony, Khehuto Kiba sahred a brief history of the colony. Senior pastor, Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church reverend S. Vitoshe Swu unveiled the jubilee monolith and dedicated the souvenir by invoking jubilee blessing and reading out scripture Isaiah 35:7-10.
ZSUD: Zeliangrong Students’Union, Delhi (ZSUD) celebrated its silver anniversary under the theme, “engaged, enlightened and empowered” on October 14 at Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi with minister for Health and Family Welfare, Imkong L. Imchen and deputy commissioner of Tamenglong district, Armstrong Pame, as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
A press note by ZSUD general secretary, Wisanlungbou Thiumai stated that highlights of the programme included Hwai, Zeliangrong anthem, welcome speech by Mathiuchunbou Rimai, president of ZSUD and choir, presenting essence of silver anniversary. A Brief Account of ZSUD was given by Digao Pamei. There was cultural extravaganza showcasing the rich heritage of the Zeliangrong people, paying tributes to pioneer students, felicitating the meritorious & successful students and musical shows. Speech on behalf of alumni was delivered by Lucas L. Kamsuan, joint secretary, ministry of Shipping, exhortation speech by Aaron Pamei, director, ministry of Defence. Best mentor of ZSUD award wasgiven to Mathiupuang Gonmei for his outstanding contribution in various ways to ZSUD.
