Sept 18 firing arrests: WCH lauds police

Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) Wednesday expressed appreciation to the Dimapur police for arresting the two persons allegedly involved in the firing incident at Kuda Cold Storage, 5th Mile Dimapur on September 18, 2017.
It may be mentioned that the Special Operation Team of the Dimapur Police on October 23, 2017 arrested two alleged NSCN (K) cadres identified as ‘capt.’ Hekato Chopy (34), son of Shevikhu of Litsami village, resident of Doyapur Dimapur and Aliet Haflongbar (27), son of late Opich of Ganeshnagar village, Doyapur, Dimapur, who were reportedly involved in the firing incident.
In a press release, Western Chakhesang Hoho  president, Vekhosayi Nyekha, warned the legal fraternity or any party against moving bail for the accused under any circumstances. 
The hoho instead demanded that befitting punishment be awarded to the accused at the earliest.
WCH maintained that if such “hardcore goons” threatening the life of the peace loving hardworking citizens were not put behind bars, the laws of the land would have no meaning. 
It stated that lives of the citizens were constantly put under the mercy of the “gun totting elements” with monetary demand and extortion slips.
Further, Western Chakhesang Hoho  expressed its high regard to all the officers and all the rank and file of Dimapur police especially special operation team in arresting the accused and providing “a resolute service for maintenance of public peace and order, crime prevention, investigation and law enforcement.”
GVC clarifies
Ganeshnagar Village Council (GVC) has clarified that one of the arrested accused Aliet Haflongber was a bona fide citizen of Ganeshnagar village, who it said was arrested by police on October 22, 2017 at the vicinity of village while he was on evening walk.
In a press release, Ganeshnagar Village Council  chairman, Sonen Khemprai, and Ganeshnagar village GB, Noyalal Nunisa, stated that the arrested accused did not have any criminal record and had no link with any underground faction. They said that after the demise of his father, he had been looking after the family.
Also, asserting that they know him and his family “very clearly”, the signatories declared him to be “an innocent bona fide person.”
