Sivasagar district administration, Assam has reinforced night curfew from 6 p.m to 6 a.m. in the 5 km belt of Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland state with effect from September 26, 2017 for a period of 60 days. According to an official bulletin, the additional district magistrate (ADM) Sivasagar, in an order, stated that night curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent occurrence of anti-social elements/extremist/unlawful activities coming across the Assam /Nagaland border in the belt of Sivasagar district. ADM, Sivasagar said movement of any person/ group of persons/any vehicular traffics were prohibited during the period of night curfew. Security personnel of army/CRPF/Police and civil officials deployed on duty have, however, been exempted from the purview of the prohibitory order, stated the order.
