Awareness programme on dengue was conducted by Master of Social Work (MSW) students of North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) Dimapur in collaboration with Community Education Centre Society (CECS) at CECS campus, Kuda C Grace Colony.
Speaking as the resource person, programme officer of National Vector Borne District Control Programme (NVBDCP), Dr Moa, briefed the gathering on the symptoms of dengue, the preventive measures and medical attention required.
He said that Dimapur recently had been facing an epidemically high rate of dengue problem and added that measures were being taken up by respective colonies to minimize the spread of the disease.
Dr Moa urged the people to clean their surroundings at least once a week and warned that if anyone was having the similar symptoms like joint pains, typhoid like headache and fever etc. should seek for medical attention. He informed that dengue test was free in all the government hospitals. An amount of Rs 450 may be charged for cart test only if the result turned out positive, he added. Altogether 126 people from the community attended the awareness programme.
