Joining the ongoing debate over delay in construction of BDO office building at Chunlikha RD block, Teminyu sub-division, the Tesophenyu Group Public Organization (Central) on Monday stressed that neither Kandi group nor Tesophenyu group should interfere and complicate the existing site of BDO office Chunlikha, but allow Kithagha Public Organization (KPO) to decide the best viable location as deemed fit.
In a press release, TGPU(C) president, Gwachung Chung, and joint secretary, S Soyhunlo Seb, pointed out that Tesophenyu group, which comprised of four villages having 2,270 households with a population of 13,667, was also part and parcel of RD Block Chunlikha, headquarters of Northern Rengma.
Expressing its opinion on the issue, TGPU(C) asked “Should the matter for changing site of RD Block Chunlikha which has been functioning smoothly be awakened from its deep slumber on the verge of completing every five years?”
For maintaining status quo, the organisation suggested that BDO office ought to be constructed at the selected permanent site of the existing RD Block Chunlikha offered by land donor, Khankhu Magh, which was located at West NH-2 Chunlikha Headquarters, without fear or favour.
Further, TGPU(C) pointed out that the location was accessible and convenient with all the basic infrastructures irrespective of directions and geographical situations for the citizens of three constituent groups — Kandi group, Kithagha group and Tesophenyu group.
The organisation also stated that the popular desires and decisions of the majority groups must also be taken into account with regard and respect.
In the event of failure to construct BDO office, RD Block Chunlikha at the appropriate location, TGPU(C) cautioned that the four villages of Tesophenyu group would resort to ways and means of exercising its democratic rights.
KPU reiterates stir threat
Kandi Public Union (KPU) on Monday reiterated its resolution to intensify agitation from November 20, 2017, if the state government failed to direct the contractor for construction of RD Block office at the inaugural site Chunlikha.
KPU through its press & media cell also reacted to the statement of the Kithagha Public Organization (KPO) particularly the purported allegation that Kandi group demanded construction of RD Block office at Tsonsa village.
KPU clarified that it had at no point in time demand the shifting of RD Block office to Tsonsa village.
As per the instructions of the government, the union maintained that the office should immediately start its construction as the contract was already awarded to M/S JK & sons of Nsunyu (Kithagha) on November 11, 2016.
It also pointed out that the government has already appointed Grade -IV post to the land owners namely Ninenya Semy, wife of Tekhenu Semy, and John Magh, son of Rev. Khankhu Magh.
As such, KPU said there was no question of shifting the office complex to Tsonsa or GHS compound.
The union said people of Nsunyu (Kithagha) group have benefitted in both employment and contract, adding that Kandi group neither envied the opportunity nor object to it.
However, KPU has expressed dismayed at the “step motherly treatment” of the KPO, which it alleged sidelined the contribution and selfless effort of the Kandi group having a population of 13762.
KPU said the present Chunlikha came into being only in the year 1961 when four villages — Nsunyu, Kandinu, Sishunu and Ehunnu — initiated to establishment of a private ME school.
Subsequently, KPU said with the joint effort of the four villages various development like GHS, PHC etc took place. Since then, KPU said Chunlikha range came into being, adding that none of the four villages were a host or a master of Chunlikha but were equal partners in all matters.
Asserting that KPO “intentionally oversighting the Kandi people” has saddened the mind of both young and old, the KPU said its demand for early construction of RD office had “no intention of ulterior motives, but for the welfare of the Chunlikha range and rural people.”
