In view of the upcoming Hornbill Festival, the Kohima Hotel & Restaurant Union (KHRU) has appealed to all the hotels and restaurants in and around Kohima town to maintain cleanliness. In this regard, KHRU has also issued guidelines for strict implementation by all responsible.
In a press release, KHRU president, N. Theyo, and member, Theyiehu Rutsa, requested hotel owners to serve hygienically prepared good food to customers as well as visiting tourists.
As suggested by DC Kohima, the union said security would be provided to all the important hotels by the administration. It therefore stated that arrangement should be made for their stay while on duty. In view of prohibition of alcohol in Nagaland, the union said hotel and restaurants were not permitted to serve any kind of alcohol to customers. It also instructed that clean drinking water facility be provided and keep the hotels and restaurants free from flies. Washing basin and toilet should be kept clean, KHRU added.
Further, restaurants/hotel attendants have been directed to wear clean clothes while serving food or working in the kitchen.
Referring to a theft case reported at a hotel in 2016, the union, in this regard urged the manager/caretakers of hotels to remain vigilant. It said that care should be taken by all hotel owners to ensure that such kind of act does not happen in any hotel.
Meanwhile, the union said it constituted a team of members for inspection to oversee the above arrangements. In case of any deviation, the union said the matter would be reported to the concerned authority for necessary action.
