Ao students’ union Dimapur (ASUD) and Tenyimi Student’s Union Dimapur (TSUD), in separate statements, have extended its support to the ongoing peaceful sit-in dharna headed by public coordination committee (PCC) organized and spearheaded by ACUAT and PSAN at New Secretariat junction.
In press statement ASUD president, Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary, Moayanger Jamir, asserted that the dharna “needs to be supported by all right thinking citizens and civil society organisations”.
ASUD stated that due to the efforts of bodies such as the public service aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN), an effective mechanism to check corruption had been put in place.
“One of the reasons capable youths of today are deprived their due share in employment is because there is rampant nepotism in the recruitment process and the menace of backdoor appointments as well. The government of the day has only given the public more reasons to abhor it by remaining unmoved by the agitation taking place right at its doorstep”, the union stated.
ASUD also stated that the only solution to the problems plaguing Nagaland would be to set up a Lokayukta at the earliest. It also stated that the demand made by PCC to set up Nagaland Lokayukta should be viewed in all seriousness by the government and that, people are being choked to death by the same leaders whom they voted to power in the hopes they would have their best interests at heart.
