Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees’ Association (CANSSEA), Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Services Association (FONSESA), Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA) and Nagaland Finance & Accounts Service Association (NF&ASA) have resolved to continue the ongoing pen-down strike till November 24. This was decided at a meeting held at NSSA office on Wednesday. The meeting also decided that office bearers of all associations, under the umbrella of the four organisations, would ensure that the strike was strictly enforced.
In a statement signed by CANSSEA president, Dr. Zase Chusi; FONSESA president, Er. Y Tep, NSSA president, Johnny Humtsoe and NF&ASA president, R.N. Yanthan and issued on Wednesday, the association stated that the proposed meeting with Cabinet Sub-committee during the day was postponed as intimated by the Home Commissioner’s office. The four associations also announced that the second phase of agitation in the form of mass casual leave for three days would begin from November 27 till the State government recommended the empanelled list to the DoT/UPSC for selection into IAS.
The State Cabinet had, on October 5, 2017, appointed a Cabinet Sub-committee comprising seven members on promotion/selection to IAS cadre with Health & Family Welfare Minister Imkong Imchen as Convener. It was given a month’s time to submit its recommendation in accordance with recruitment rules.
“However, failure on the part of the Cabinet Sub-committee to make timely recommendations and decision by the Government compelled the associations into serving of the 7-day ultimatum on 14/11/2017. The reported meeting on 22/11/2017 called by the Convener Cabinet Sub-committee with the associations after expiry of the dateline, i.e. 21-11-2017, regrettably never took place,” the statement added.
The associations further rubbished the press statement and “derogatory accusations” of Cabinet Sub-committee Convener as published in the local dailies on Wednesday. They termed it as “unbecoming” of a senior Minister, and more so as a Convener of Cabinet Sub-committee.
