Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) has welcomed the November 28 cabinet decision to revamp the Nagaland Public Service Commission and its system of examination. PSAN, through its media cell expressed deep appreciation for the decisiveness and sensitivity of the government towards the plight of its people.
PSAN said that, being the highest recruiting body, NPSC was revered by both civil service aspirants and the public. Therefore, PSAN said it was pertinent that NPSC maintains its decorum and serves as an exemplary institute maintaining the highest level of transparency and fairness.
“Times are changing, and so should the rules; in order to suit the needs of the aspirants and the stake holders,” it said. PSAN hoped that the new directives issued to the NPSC would be “followed in letter and in spirit”.
However, PSAN pointed out that the government’s inability to revoke the October 26 OM was a big blow to the unemployed youth.
PSAN said there were more than 70,000 educated and unemployed youth looking for opportunities and the decision of the Cabinet to scrap Class-III posts from the purview of the NPSC had demoralized thousands, which succeeded in creating a negative image of the present government.
Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland it would persist with their demand to revert all the Class-III posts that were under the NPSC earlier.
They also asked that a State Selection Board, in line with the centre’s Staff Selection Commission, be set up “for recruitment to those posts with a Grade Pay of less than 2800 in order to inculcate in the youth a spirit of competition and also to select the best among thousands to serve the state with efficiency and sincerity.”
Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland said they stood firm on their demand and will utilize every democratic right to ensure justice and the growth of the state and its youth, adding that the government will be solely responsible for any untoward incident the occurs as a result of their stand for justice.
