Dimapur police in the month of January has registered two cases and nabbed individuals in separate incidents, informed a press note by additional deputy commissioner of police/PRO, Dimapur.
According to Dimapur police PRO, on January 4 around 4:15 p.m., Dimapur Police apprehended two persons ‘Pvt’ of NNC (A), Joel Zeliang (35) son of Kikibe from old Peren village, presently residing at Burma Camp and Ghoikhu Swu (31) son of Lt. Inoshe from Ghokimi village Pughoboto, presently residing at Lengrijan.
Dimapur police PRO stated that the two were apprehended at City Tower for “extorting money” from “MAA Furnishing Store” and were reportedly members of NNC (Accordist).
Police informed that a cash of Rs. 4150 along with two numbers of mobile were seized from Joel Zeliang and another Rs. 500 from Mr. Ghoikhu Swu. The arrested persons have been charged with relevant sections of law and are currently under investigation.
Similarly on January 4 at around 5 p.m., AET of Dimapur Police arrested one ‘2nd Lt.’ NSCN (R) Angukavi Yepthomi (26) also known as Akavi son of Hokhovi, village of Hekheshe Medziphema and presently residing at Purana Bazaar Dimapur (Petla Colony).
According to Dimapur police PRO, he was arrested on charges of “extortion” after he was found collecting illegal taxes from business establishments at New Market area. A case was registered and further investigation is on, informed PRO.
