Three-day, 31st convention of Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) got underway Friday at Mary Help of Christians, Cathedral in Kohima. The convention is organized under the theme, “Celebrating Faith, Celebrating Culture”.
The main speaker for the inaugural programme was Spiritual Director, ACYA, Rev.Fr.Vemedo Joseph Kezo.
Speaking on the theme, Rev. Kezo called upon the youth to respect the culture and to not forget their roots. He also encouraged the youth to respect their parents, reminding them that blessings come from the parents and that “God gave our parents and their blessing comes from our God”.
Rev. Kezo also reminded the gathering that God sometimes tests us to make us stronger, and therefore one should not give up but continue to have deeper faith in him. He said ‘God listens to you and don’t give up on Him, and He will give you what you want’. Calling upon the youth to live a responsible life, he reminded them that a true Christian should not limit itself to the church alone.
The significance of the cross is that it is the symbol of our faith and reminded the Catholic youth not to lose their faith no matter how many trials and temptations they faced.
He further reminded about the importance of Rosary prayer and urged them to make use of it.
A total of 675 delegates from 35 villages are attending the convention, which will culminate on January 21.
ACRWA convention: The 55th Angami Christian Revival Women Association (ACRWA) Convention through God’s revelation began Friday at Mengujuma village. The convention inaugural session was lead by chairperson of ACRWA Krosano Mekro with Bayavu CRC Women department as session choir.
Mission director NEICRC council , Rev. Dr.Neivotso Neikha was as the session speaker. The speaker thoroughly emphasised on the convention’s main topic “I am the good shepherd” John 10:14.
Delegates from all the five sub-councils of Kohima Town, Chakroma, Northern Angami, Southern Angami and Western Angami are attending.
The three days convention will culminate on January 21.
