CIH Nagaland organises NE Kisan mela

Two-day “North East kisan mela-cum-horticulture stake holders meet” was held by Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland at its campus in Medziphema, inaugurated by additional secretary (Hort) DAC & FW, GOI, Jalaj Shrivastava from January 22 to 23.
A press release from CIH director stated that, Jalaj in his inaugural address mentioned that India was the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world and blessed with vivid climatic condition suitable for cultivation of various types of horticultural crops. He emphasized on capitalizing on these blessings and stressed on bamboo processing in the form of compressed bamboo bricks, beekeeping, GI tags for crops that have unique traits, organic cultivation, processing and value addition. 
He also mentioned that horticultural sector had eminent scope for everyone from farmers, entrepreneurs to landless labourers.
He also inaugurated the soil sterilization unit and foundation stone of culvert at the institute. Chief guest and dignitaries released the publication of the institute and distributed certificates of skill development (ASCI) to the trainees and accredited nurseries.
During the event, a horticulture stake holders meet was also organized and chaired by Dr. V A Parthasarathy, president, NABS and ex-director, IISR, Calicut and co-chaired by Dr. N.K. Mohan, chief consultant, CIH and ex-chief scientist, HRS, Kahikuchi, Guwahati. Power point presentations were delivered by Dr. V A Parthasarathy, Dr. N. K. Mohan, Prof. S. Alam, AAU, Jorhat and Dr. S.C. Panwar, joint director, NHB (NER), Guwahati.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by director, CIH, Dr. Lallan Ram, brief remark by Dr. Anamika Sharma, head, KVK, Dimapur, Nagaland, Dr. R. E. lotha, director, Dept. of Horticulture, Nagaland, Dr. Naveen Kumar Patle, deputy commissioner (Hort.), DAC & FW, New Delhi. Vote of thanks was delivered LichamoYanthan, AHS, CIH, Medziphema and the inaugural programme was compered by Imtinaro Jamir.
On the second day, an exposure visit was organized for the exhibitors and participants of the events. The event concluded with plenary session and presentation of report and recommendations by Dr. Lallan Ram, director, CIH. The event had participation of exhibitors and farmers from all the states of North East.
NSBSG hosts NE regional testing camp at Nerhema: Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG) hosted the North East regional testing camp at the training centre, Nerhema from January 18 to 22.
A press release from NSBSG state secretary, Chubanungla stated that participants were from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, NF Railway, KVS Guwahati region.
Altogether 89 scouts and 81 guides attended the testing camp. Qualifying this test would reward them with the president’s Scout /Guide award, the highest award in the country.
Atuo Mezhur Sekhose, state chief commissioner of NSBSG graced the grand campfire programme on January 21. He congratulated all the participants for completing the test successfully and encouraged them to continue in the movement after their achievement.
ADC & DEO Pughoboto appoints: ADC & DEO, Pughoboto, Avelu Ruho has appointed presiding officers & polling officials for polling duty to the 13th Legislative Assembly Election 2018.Therefore, she directed all the concerned officials to attend the trainings hereunder without fail. No applications for exemptions would be entertained unless the cases are cleared by the medical board constituted by this office. Failure to attend the trainings would invite strict disciplinary actions as per appropriate sections of law. Presiding officers & polling 1 training would be held on January 29 and February 6, 10 a.m at ADC officePolling 2 & 3 on February 6, 10 a.m at town hall. Polling 4 (VVPAT) and Grade 1V have been directed to report at 10 a.m, ADC office on February 6.
