Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) Kohima held its 37th “youth day” under the motto, “for the greater of God and men” at St.Francis de Sales (SFS) parish on Sunday.
Unfurling the ACYA flag, advisor ACYA SFS, Ruokuolhoubei Timothy exhorted the youth that as Catholics, their hashtag should be “evangelism”. He stated that in order to evangelise others, one should first evangelise oneself. While congratulating the new office bearers, Timothy also lauded the previous Angami Catholic Youth Association office bearers for conducting various programmes both inside and outside the parish and reaching out to the youth.
Timothy further advised the youth to give time to friends and act as bridges between youth and church. He also asked leaders to give space to the youth to nurture them spiritually, practically, to direct them, love them and be icons for them. He said that being a Catholic meant being in a relationship with Jesus and ones fellow beings.
Earlier, parish priest Rev. Fr. Richard Fenandes pronounced invocation, Vingurie Judith shared annual report, outgoing ACYA president, Andrew Tepa handed over charge to James Solo on behalf of new ACYA office bearers, special songs were presented by youth members and vote of thanks was by Aviu Augustine, followed by an entertainment programme in the evening.
