More legislators resign from NLA

NLA speaker has accepted the resignations of seven more legislators from the 12th NLA.
NLA commissioner & secretary, N. Benjamin Newmai notified the resignations and consequent acceptance of legislators– w.e.f. from January 2, Amenba Yaden (Ind) of 21-Tuli A/C; w.e.f. January 3, Er. Levi Rengma (Ind) of 12-Tseminyu and S. Chuba Longkumer (Ind) of 24-Angetyongpang; w.e.f. February 2, Y.M. Yolow Konyak (Ind) of 42-Wakching, Toyang Changkong Chang (Ind) of 53-Tuensang Sadar-I and Er. Picto (Ind) of 32-Atoizu and w.e.f. February 3, G. Kaito Aye (NPF) of 36-Satakha.
Consequent upon their resignations, the Speaker has declared the seats mentioned against their names as vacant.
The main reason for the spate of resignations was that the legislators wanted to avoid being disqualified under the anti defection law while joining other political parties.
A number of NPF legislators who resigned had joined other parties and likewise independent MLAs.
