In view of the upcoming assembly elections and with an objective to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the colony, Merhulietsa (Mrh) Panchayat, Ward 18 Paramedical, Kohima, has adopted two-point resolution during its emergency executive meeting on February 10.
A press release by Merhulietsa Panchayat, Kohima, chairman, Tehievi Noswe and general secretary, Hukato Chishi, stated that the panchayat has resolved to prohibit setting up of election camps within the territorial limits of the colony. Candidates, political parties and supporters have been requested to strictly comply with this directive of the colony.
The panchayat also resolved that outsiders/ non-residents shall not be permitted to participate in the electoral process and are advised to stay away from the immediate precincts of the polling station during polling hours. The panchayat has cautioned that defaulters shall be liable to penalties. It has requested the candidates, their supporters and the general public to take note and extend due cooperation to the colony authorities, in the greater interest of all.
UAVU: Urra Area Village Union (UAVU) along with the Urra Area Villages Youth Organization (UAVYO) held an emergency meeting on February 10, at its office, urra village and deliberated about the forth coming general assembly election.
According to UAVU president Thrilongse Sangtam and UAVU secretary Ruokuozhalie Rutsa, the house resolved that no candidate or party shall be allowed to canvas or campaign within the jurisdiction of UAVU after 8 p.m. and no political party shall be allowed to set up or organise party camp in any village under its jurisdiction.
The house also strictly prohibited the use of alcohol or intoxicated items within its jurisdiction and thereby cautioned to adhere necessary action as deemed fit, if found in violation of any resolution by any party or person. Further, the union also stated that UAVYO has been empowered to oversee and implement the resolution.
