Border Security Force (BSF) troops have been deployed in Nagaland for ensuring free, fair and smooth conduct assembly elections are also conducted in the remote and sensitive areas of Zunheboto, Kiphire, Phek and Kohima districts.
In a press release DIG SHG BSF Manipur commandant (Ops), Hidam Shubol Singh said that BSF troops have been deployed for area domination, patrolling, mobile vehicle check posts, Nakas, night patrolling etc. to sanitize their entire deployment area for ensuring a conducive environment for smooth conduct of the elections and to prevent any untoward incidents, intimidations, coercions by ANEs, UGs or miscreants. It stated that in view of the active domination of the area and the various preventive measures implemented by the BSF troops, there have been no untoward incidents so far and a peaceful environment has been created in these areas before the elections.
It further said that BSF troops will also be deployed for the security of polling booths, EVMs, polling staffs etc. on the day of the polling.
It stated that BSF troops are ready to thwart any challenges or threats during the pre-poll period as well as on the polling day.
