March 12, 2018 | by admin

Three persons involved in the assault on one Watensangla in Changki village were arrested by Mokokchung Police Monday.  When contacted, SP Mokokchung informed that the three will be forwarded to judicial custody Tuesday.
According to the police, involvement of any more individuals in the assault is being investigated, and if any more were found to have been involved, they will also be arrested. “Crime against women will not be tolerated and police will take very strict action against the culprits”, the police said.
It may be recalled that on March 7, Mokokchung deputy commissioner Sachin Jaiswal had issued a show-cause notice to Changki village council office bearers asking why action should not be initiated against them and had directed them to appear in person before him at his office on March 8.
The notice had said that, on the night of March 5, 58 year old Watensangla was alleged to have been brutally assaulted and subsequently ex-communicated from Changki village along with three others- two women and a man- for a period of 30 years because she did not vote for the candidate supported by the village council.
