Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) while condemning the attack on traders has requested the law enforcement agencies to expedite the process of arresting the perpetrators and book them under relevant provision of the law.
In a press release, DCCI president, Akashe K Zhimomi, and general secretary, Sanjay Sethi, also requested the police to enhance the security in and around Dimapur city particularly main business areas and ensure that no such incidents occurred in the future.
Dimapur II MLA: Moatoshi Longkumer, MLA from 2 Dimapur II Assembly Constituency, has condemned the assassination bid on Joy Chandra and Rekha Das.
In a press release, the MLA said the two victims were hardworking citizens of Dimapur 2, adding that the attack on them was appalling and barbaric. “These attacks, especially on the business community, have a ripple effect and it will be the public who will pay for the consequences eventually,” said Longkumer.
MLA said it was unacceptable that people should feel unsafe in their own homes, workplace and locality at this day and age “when we brokering for peace.”
Therefore, the MLA demanded that the culprits be booked and brought to justice immediately.
NPF minority wing: Vehemently denouncing the assassination attempt on the lives of two traders within a span of 14 hours, the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) minority wing (central) said that both the incidents were equally condemnable.
In a press release, NPF minority wing (central) president, Bishnu Bhattacharjee, said that the attempt on the life of Rekha Das, an elderly mother of two children, needed to be condemned by all. NPF minority wing wished early recovery to both the victims.
Midland colony: Midland Colony, Dimapur condemning the shooting of woman trader within its jurisdiction said that the victim was a widow and runs a small tea and puri stall for a living.
In a press statement, Midland Colony GB, Khehuto Zhimomi, expressed dismay that even a widow was not spared from the hands of anti-social elements.
The colony GB urged the law enforcing agency to initiate proper investigation to apprehend the culprits at the earliest.
Dimapur Bongs: Expressing shock over the broad daylight attempt on the lives of two citizens of Dimapur, the Dimapur Bongs Friday the incidents have raised questions about the general safety of public.
They said even as Dimapur was recovering from the shock of violent attack on Joy Chandra, today’s attempt on the life of a woman has caused much alarm.
After Dimapur came under the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur Bongs said there has been marked improvement in law and order. However, they said the twin violent incidents gave rise to doubt about the law and order situation in the district.
Irrespective of whether a citizen was a Naga or non-Naga, Dimapur Bongs said such incidents were highly condemnable.
These two incidents, Dimapur Bongs said have compelled them to question the unabated and random tax collection by people who claim to belong to different factions, and issue death threats in the name of “National Workers.”
Frequently, Dimapur Bongs said they were not in a position to ascertain the veracity of such claims and many comply with such demands fearing risk to life and limb.
Condemning both the incidents, the Dimapur Bongs urged all responsible authorities to undertake investigations at the earliest and bring the culprits to book.
They also called upon the civil society organisations to condemn such acts of violence.
Meanwhile, Dimapur Bongs wished Joy Chandra and Rekha Das speedy recovery.
