Zhaleo elected as dy speaker

NDPP legislator, Zhaleo Rio was elected unopposed as deputy speaker during the first session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. 
Zhaleo’s name was proposed by Forest Environment & Climate Change and Parliamentary Affairs minister C.M. Chang and seconded by advisor School Education, K.T. Sukhalu. 
Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio while congratulating the newly elected Dy. Speaker said that the role of the chair plays a vital role in the smooth functioning of the house. The dy. speaker will have to carry out the responsibility of the speaker in his absence apart from all the other responsibilities, he added. Rio also said Zhaleo Rio has vast experience and worked in various capacities as NCS officer and was inducted into the IAS in 1997.
The chief minister urged all the members, cutting across party lines, to extend cooperation to the newly elected dy. Speaker in order to bring about cordial atmosphere for smooth function of the house. 
Felicitating Zhaleo on being elected as the deputy speaker, leader of the opposition, T.R. said he had been a bureaucrat for a long time and an MLA for the second time.
With his experience and caliber, Zeliang said that the opposition party decided not to nominate their candidate and was pleased to make him the deputy speaker of the House. 
Reminding all about the rich tradition and heritage of the Assembly, Zeliang maintained that the opposition bench would expect impartiality and unbiased approach towards the opposition members. He further hoped that Zhaleo would deliver justice to the members of the August House irrespective of their political party affinities. 
Zhaleo Rio in his speech expressed gratitude to all the members of the House for electing him unopposed as the deputy speaker. 
He assured the members to carry out his duties and responsibilities in a just manner, while also urging all to extend their cooperation.
