NSCN (R) has vehemently condemned the actions of 32 & 41 Assam Rifles where they had allegedly been repeatedly raiding the residences of NSCN (R) officials.
NSCN (R), MIP, through a press release said that it had been showing utmost restraint in spite of the raids, “so as not to de-rail the peaceful and congenial atmosphere as desired by the public.”
“The wayward AR boys however ignored all these with impunity…” it said and listed a series of alleged raids on the residence of ‘lt. col.’ Kuhoto Sumi– Twice in 2017 and on March 29, 2018 and April 14, 2018.
NSCN (R) said that it objected to the raids which were mostly carried out during the wee morning hours, harassing and creating fear psychosis among the family members.
Also on April 14, at 3:30 a.m., NSCN (R) alleged that the residence of dy. kilonser Pichu Lotha, a holder of the cease fire card, was raided by AR under the command of one Major Praveen, who “showed sheer ignorance” even after he was shown the card. NSCN (R) alleged that the raiding team “took away one pistol and the kilonser’s personal bodyguard, Robin Lotha.”
NSCN (R) wondered if the GoI was under the AR since a junior officer under AR was disrespecting the Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGR) signed between the NSCN (R) and the GoI.
It advised the AR to rein in their boys as the NSCN (R) had been doing and cautioned the AR that their restraint should not be taken as weakness since “we are also well equipped to defend ourselves…”
NSCN (R) reminded AR that “PEACE” was too dear and not to be compromised because of a few “undisciplined, discourteous and wayward boys.”
