PHC Athibung, Assam Rifles & VCJ extends ‘Helping Hand’ to villagers

Assam Rifles (AR) in collaboration with PHC Ahthibung and Veterinary College, Jalukie (VCJ) organised a “Helping Hand Day” at Bongkolong village, which is one of the most remote villages under Peren district, by organising various activities on April 28.
A press release by Matthew Hangsing from Bongkolong village stated that it organised free medical camps wherein a doctor from Assam Rifles and MO, PHC Athibung, Dr. Vezokholu Khamo, counselled and treated  203 (50 male, 67 female and 86 children) patients. All the patients were given free medicine. Pregnant mothers and the aged were mostly benefitted from of the drive.
The team also organised a free veterinary camp and door-to-door drive, wherein Dr. Subumanium from Veterinary College, Jalukie and his team including four doctors and 16 students reached out to the masses and conducted the drive for the villagers’ pets. 127 pets were de-wormed, vaccinated and health kits during the camp. A seminar on AIDS was also conducted wherein, MACS Peren counsellor, Hiareu Ndang spread awareness among the villagers.
Free Malaria, TB, HIV and HB tests were also conducted for the villagers and students.
Assam Rifles also established a refreshment point so that the villagers coming from long distances could refresh themselves. The public of Bongoklong, Phellhang and New Beisumpui extended their gratefulness to Assam Rifles, PHC Ahthibung and Veterinary College, Jalukie for coming together to assist the common people.
