To mark 100th anniv of 1st Naga matriculate Dr N Kire

Family announces Rs.1L for 2018 HSLC topper
To commemorate 100 years of the first Naga matriculate Dr Neilhouzhü Kire, his family members on Tuesday announced cash award of Rs 1 lakh for the 2018 HSLC topper. This was announced by former director general of police (DGP) K Kire at a memorial programme held on the occasion of 49th death anniversary of his father Dr Neilhouzhü Kire held at the residence of former MLA, Abao Kire here on Tuesday evening. 
K. Kire said the Rs. 1 lakh award will be a one-time grant to keep alive the memory of his late father, who completes 100 years of his matriculation.
Kire said that the family members also announced various other awards. He added that Dr Neilhouzhü Kire Angami Award for securing highest mark in Tenyidie under Ura Academy will be enhanced to Rs 50,000, besides announcing another award of Rs 50,000 to the topper from government schools under Kohima district planning board.
To encourage the students further, Kire said the topper from Dr Neilhouzhü Government Higher Secondary School will also be awarded Rs 25,000 in cash, while the cash award under Kohima Village Students’ Union will be enhanced to Rs 25,000, besides providing another Rs 25,000 cash award to the topper from D Khel.
In her short yet glowing tribute, Dr Perhienuo, granddaughter of Dr Neilhouzhü, fondly recalled her childhood life with her grandfather, whom she described as inspirational and a strict disciplinarian. 
Other family members also shared their fond memories of Dr Neilhouzhü.
According to Naga High School annual review of 1954-55 and Tenyimia Mhasi Kerieko written by Kiezotuo Zhale in 2010, Dr Neilhouzhü Kire, popularly known as NK Angami, was the first Naga matriculate who passed his matriculation from Shillong Government High School in 1918.
