India Skills Competition Nagaland 2018 concludes

Showcasing skills in cooking and patisserie/confectionary by students, the four day ‘India skills competition Nagaland 2018’ concluded with a grand finale held at Mhachaki, Kohima on May 19.
According to DIPR, the four day India skill competition was organised by Directorate of Employment, Skill development and Entrepreneurship Nagaland in collaboration with event partner Synergy groups enterprise. India Skills Competition, Nagaland 2018, was funded by National Skill Development Corporation, a public & private partnership company with the mandate of catalysing the skill landscape in India.
Commissioner & Secretary, L&E, SD&E, Anenla T. Ao in her short speech thanked the organiser for taking the initiative of organising such an event and making it a successful one. She pointed out that due to lack of proper infrastructure Nagaland was struggling and unable to succeed like other states. 
She opined that Nagaland government should organise more events and train people, especially the younger generation. She further encouraged the participants to grab the opportunity and even take up the skills as their profession.
Addressing the gathering, Analyst for North East Region NSDC Zimik said “youth of north eastern states have lots of potential and such events gives them the right platform to showcase their skills”. Encouraging the participants, he said that this was the first step and through their skills and talents the youth could make Nagaland proud.
He stated that the NSDC would continue to support in the organisation of such events financially as well as technically.  
The participants showcased their skills competing in cooking & patisserie/confectionery making. The cooking skill winner was Sentienla Kichu, 1st and 2nd runner-ups were won by Begum Apchana and Mengukhrielie. For the patisserie/confectionery skill competition, the winner was Vikhonuo Hibo, 1st and 2nd runner-ups were Renphamo Ezung and Keneiseinuo Kere.
The winners walked away with a certificate & a cash prize of Rs. 25000, Rs. 15000, Rs. 10000 each and two days training at Exotic School of Cooking. All the participants were also given a cash of Rs 2000 each.
The winners of India Skills will get a chance to represent India at world skills Kazan, Russia 2019 and at the National level in Bhubaneswar in June, 2018.
The panel of judges for the competition were Rovi Chasie, Aien Jamir, Alemjungla Jamir, Joel Basumatari and Chenti Phom.
The opening remark was given by joint secretary L&E, SD&E Deptt. & convenor, Organizing Committee, who also chaired the programme. A short video on the entire competition of the Indian skills competition was compiled and presented by Synergy Groups (Event). Other highlights of the programme were the result declaration and prize distribution by Commissioner & Secretary, L&E, SD&E, Deptt. Anenla T. Sato. Vote of thanks was delivered by Director Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Y. Vandamshan Lotha.
