The Naga Scholars’ Association (NSA) has opened a new chapter of the association in Kohima, christened “Kohima regional unit” and also nominated the executive council with Dr. Zavise Rume and Dr. Kholia as the president and the general secretary respectively, at Heritage Kohima on June 17.
A press release by NSA president, Dr. Zuchamo Yanthan and general secretary, Dr. Lungthuiyang Riamei stated that the president of NSA, while briefing the audience on the objectives of the NSA, emphasised on the significance and relevance of the NSA for Naga society. Dr. R. Vashum, one of the advisors of the NSA spoke about the importance and responsibility of the association to respond to the needs of the scholars and Naga society at large. He, along with the president of the NSA administered the installation of the new executive council.
According to the release, the event is very significant in view of being the first regional chapter being established in Naga soil as NSA was presently headquartered in Delhi with members spread across the globe.
