As politics in Nagaland is increasingly pushing socio-economic into bedlam; real issues so often get drowned out by the din of distraction and deprecation. Often people who listen to the voices around understand little but if they listen to their conscience, they understand much more. Solution to the Naga political issue has reached a crucial stage, in response to the cry for peace since the sixties till today and which, if achieved, could place those who continue to remain adamant, in a difficult situation. In a way, along with the political issue, what needs to be realised today is that, the socio-economic problems have multiplied because of the imbalanced perception which accorded too much focus on politics. Guns and culture cannot bring glory but only achievements in progress and development. That is the global economic language of identity. That calls for putting the horse before the cart. For too long have people placed the cart before the horse and it is time to do what is needed. All leaders may have their own considered viewpoint on challenges facing contemporary society but unless they mainstream these views, no common vision can be made. The young future generation have to be prepared in the way that enables them to move ahead to lead their people into the 21st century, where there is place and space for those are willing to move and not just sit and talk of their dreams. Whatever has been spoken and written about the common Naga vision is being tested in practical terms at various political levels. This has thrown a challenge on the institution of the church, to meet this situation head-on. Though much has been expected of the church and though it has more often, disappointed; yet there is no denying that it can still play the role of mediator, provider of safe space for open dialogue, identifier of common ground, and promoter of truth-speaking. This is critical for the reform of the present and hope of the future generations. Every religion and faith, seek to make their followers enlightened about their god so as to make them better people However, the unavoidable involvement towards the ‘common ideal’ is development and progress. Any idea or endeavor undergoes certain metamorphosis and that is the essence of progress. Reams can be written on this subject but the point that needs to be pondered is to understand where things have gone wrong and how to correct the total drift. One general path is to think, and act professionally. Unless professionalism is promoted and nurtured society will remain lagging behind. Professionalism is a subject which the government understands but chooses to do little about it. This is so because commitment on the part of the government is directly proportional to the dictates of political interests or serving the interests of power brokers and lobbyists flooding the government corridor. There are as many factions in the Naga movement as there are many tribal alliances at the social level and also many interests , all of who can play crucial role for getting the next generation into orbit.
