Land Owners’ Union (LOU) Doyang Hydro Electric Project (DHEP) has threatened to launch second phase of agitation if the NEEPCO Ltd authority failed to comply with its seven-point charter of demands within a period of one month.
The union cautioned that DHEP management and corporation (NEEPCO) would be held the solely responsible if any eventualities arose during the course of agitation.
In a press release, LOU president, Rhanbemo Odyuo, said the union, which represents 17 affected villages of DHEP, submitted a representation during consultative meeting at Conference Hall Doyang with executive director (O&M) NEEPCO Hq Shillong on September 24, 2018.
In the representation, the union reminded the NEEPCO authority of the agreements about reserving grade-IV staffs post for the land owners and demanded immediate recruitment of existing vacancies Grade-IV staffs of the project as per the agreement.
LOU stated that retired post/expired on service of Grade-IV staff of the DHEP should be awarded to the land owners as per the agreement.
It also said that creation of new post of Grade-IV staff of DHEP, NEEPCO should be made to the bona fide land owners of the constructed DHEP as per the signed agreement.
Expressing dismay over the present schooling system and poor infrastructure at VKV (NEEPCO), Doyang, the union demanded immediate major renovation of the building, proper infrastructure and up-gradation to higher secondary from the next academy session.
On road conditions, the union demand immediate widening, strengthening and carpeting of the colony roads of the DHEP.
Further, LOU demanded immediate renovation of the 29-year-old main office building and staff quarters of the DHEP. It also said that inspection bungalow (IB) and NRC hall of DHEP needed major renovation.
Besides, the union demanded immediate improvement of primary health centre DHEP and construction of standard rostrum and galleries of the existing DHEP playground.
